The Artist Building at 300 Summer Street is a self-governing artist-owned live-work cooperative for visual artists in downtown Boston, in the heart of the vibrant Fort Point Arts Community (FPAC). The historic building, a former wool warehouse, also houses the FPAC Gallery, several businesses and a café. The cooperative is structured in a limited-equity format to maintain affordability of the 47 live-work primary residences over time.
Founded and sponsored by FPAC, the Artist Building opened in 1995 after years of meetings and extensive renovations. Visual artists are allowed a unique opportunity to live, work, and collaborate in this premier location steps away from the Fort Point Channel and Boston Harbor.
The Artist Building at 300 Summer participates in Fort Point Open Studios every October on the weekend following the Columbus Day holiday.
The Artist Building at 300 Summer Street is managed by FirstService Residential.
